Wheel Wash : More Details

As the vehicle approaches the wheel wash, a sensor "sees"™ the vehicle and sends a signal to the pump room to start the pumps.

The pump house is situated at one end of the water recycling plant. The electric version of which is fully wired to quarry and mine standard and is fully frost protected.

We also offer a self-contained diesel driven unit that eliminates the need for a power supply. Like the electric version it is fully automatic and has it's own engine management system to protect the power pack. The pump houses also contain the system's control panel and fresh water jet wash.

As the vehicle inches through the washer, up to 72 high-pressure nozzles spray the vehicle from both sides and underneath. The wheel wash continues to operate whilst ever a vehicle is "seen" by the sensors, enabling vehicles to be washed from a small van right through to the longest articulated vehicle. When the back end of the vehicle leaves the wash, the pump shuts down.

The dirty water and debris that is collected on the platform, runs into a central gully and then into the sump tank. There is a filter basket to remove large debris. In the bottom of the tank there is a "grinder"™ submersible pump which transfers the dirty water to the water recycling plant. This metre tank is the only bellow ground civils required for the Wheel Wash, all other equipment is surface mounted.

The dirty water entering the recycling plant at one end passes through a weir and arrives at the other end having settled all the mud to the bottom of the tank. Certain installations that suffer from floating debris can be equipped with a special screen filter.

The six-inch Bauer connectors enable the silt to be removed quickly and cleanly via a suction tanker, eliminating the silt from bellow ground tanks.

A standard feature of both the electric and diesel wheel wash units is the automatic platform wash down system. The unique system reduces maintenance costs and ensures that the platform is kept clear of debris.

The platform grids are designed to massage the tyres, which of course forces dirt out as it travels up the entry ramps, cleaning underneath is important and the hinged ramps make this job so much easier.

As well as the fixed jet unit, we also offer a high spec rotary jet unit. This system incorporates six rotating cleaning heads containing four nozzles each, which deliver high volume, high impact water jets with adjustable spinning speeds.

There is also the option of adding an extra high pressure jetting lance. The lance, which uses clean, fresh water, is ideal for cleaning the area around the wash and any parts of smaller vehicles.

If space is available, further storage of water will improve silting out.
